Responsible Gaming
Gambling is entertainment with a price attached, and the price is the money you stake. This page sets out the tools that keep that price where you decided it should be, the signals worth taking seriously, and who to call in Australia when it has stopped being a game.

Where to get help in Australia
Free, confidential counselling by phone and web chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, anywhere in Australia. You do not need a referral and you do not have to give your name.
Crisis support and suicide prevention, around the clock. If tonight feels unbearable, call them before you do anything else.
Australia's National Self-Exclusion Register. One registration blocks every licensed Australian online operator at once, for three months to a lifetime.
For the anxiety and depression that so often travel alongside gambling problems.
Free financial counselling. They negotiate with creditors and they will not lecture you.
Face-to-face counselling across Victoria and similar state services elsewhere, including support for family members.
The five tools in your account
| Tool | What it does | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps what you can pay in per day, week or month. | Lower: immediately. Higher: after a 24-hour wait. |
| Loss limit | Caps net losses over a chosen period, then stops play. | Lower: immediately. Higher: after a 24-hour wait. |
| Session reminder | Interrupts play at your chosen interval with the time and your net position. | Immediately. |
| Cool-off | Locks the account for 24 hours to 30 days. Balances stay; you can still withdraw. | Immediately, and it cannot be lifted early. |
| Self-exclusion | Closes access for six months, a year, or permanently, and stops all marketing. | Immediately, and it cannot be reversed before the term ends. |
Setting a limit takes about a minute
- Sign in and open Account → Responsible Gaming.
- Choose the tool: deposit limit, loss limit, session reminder or cool-off.
- Pick the amount and the period. Daily caps bite harder than monthly ones.
- Confirm. A tighter limit is live instantly and you will see it on the cashier screen.
- Prefer not to do it yourself? Ask live chat and support will set it for you.
A good starting figure is what you could lose this month without changing anything else in your life. If that number is hard to say out loud, it is worth setting the limit lower than your first instinct.
Signs worth taking seriously
- Playing longer or for more than you planned, most times you sit down.
- Going back to win losses back — chasing, in one word.
- Borrowing, selling or delaying bills to fund play.
- Hiding how much you play, or lying about it when asked.
- Gambling to escape stress, boredom, grief or a bad day.
- Irritability or restlessness on days you cannot play.
- Losing interest in things that used to matter more.
- Relief rather than fun when a session ends.
One of these on one week is not a diagnosis. Several of them, month after month, is a pattern — and patterns are exactly what counsellors on 1800 858 858 talk people through every day.
Four honest questions
Answer them for yourself, not for anyone else.
- Have you ever felt you should cut down?
- Has anyone close to you been annoyed or worried by your gambling?
- Have you ever felt guilty about how much you play or spend?
- Have you ever gambled to fix money problems that gambling caused?
One yes is a reason to set a limit today. Two or more is a reason to call someone on the list above, and there is nothing embarrassing about doing so — the counsellors have heard it all before, and they are not there to judge.
Self-exclusion, in four layers
- With us. Account → Responsible Gaming → Self-exclusion, or ask live chat. Effective at once, for six months, a year or permanently, and marketing stops the same moment.
- Across Australia. Register with BetStop on 1800 238 7867 or at betstop.gov.au, and every licensed Australian online operator is closed to you in one step.
- At the bank. Most Australian banks can block gambling transactions on a card from the app, and some require a cooling-off period before the block can be lifted.
- On the device. Gamban and BetBlocker cover gambling sites across your phone and computer, including sites a national register does not reach.
A fifth layer is not technical at all: tell one person you trust. Every counsellor will say the same thing — the blocks hold far better when somebody else knows they exist.
How the maths actually works
Our library averages 95.5% RTP. Over millions of rounds across 3,830 games, roughly $95.50 of every $100 staked returns to players as winnings. The remaining $4.50 is how the casino exists. That figure is a description of the long run, not a forecast for tonight.
- Every round is independent. A slot does not remember its last spin, and neither does a roulette wheel.
- Nothing is ever "due". A game that has not paid in an hour is exactly as likely to pay on the next spin as it was on the first.
- Betting systems do not change the edge. Doubling after a loss changes the shape of your results, not their expected value, and it reaches the table limit faster than it reaches a profit.
- Near misses are design. Two jackpot symbols and a blank feels like almost winning. Mathematically, it is simply a loss.
If you find yourself budgeting with expected winnings, the number that matters is not the RTP — it is the amount you have already decided you can lose.
Keeping minors out
Our licence sets the minimum age at 18 and we verify every member's identity. An account found in a minor's hands is closed on the spot: stakes are returned and winnings are void.
If children use your devices, do not rely on a password alone. Gamban and BetBlocker keep gambling sites off the whole device, browser profiles keep sessions separate, and payment methods should never be saved where a curious teenager can reach them.
If it is someone else's gambling
Living with another person's gambling is its own problem, and the same services help you too. Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 counsels family members, the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 works with household finances, and Relationships Australia on 1300 364 277 handles the strain it puts on the people around it.
Practically: protect the shared money first, do not cover the debts quietly, and do not make threats you will not carry out. If you believe a member of our site is at serious risk, write to [email protected]. We cannot discuss another person's account with you, but we can act on what you tell us.
What we do on our side
- Verify age and identity before a first withdrawal, without exception.
- Watch for patterns — sharp increases in deposits, long unbroken sessions, repeated limit increases — and make contact when we see them.
- Exclude self-excluded and cooled-off members from every marketing list immediately.
- Train support staff to recognise a player in trouble and to hand over the helpline rather than an offer.
- Never send promotions to an account that has asked us to stop.
We would rather lose a customer than keep one who cannot afford to be here. If that is you tonight, use the tools above, or call 1800 858 858 and talk to someone who does this for a living.
